My (then) fiance and I shopped for my ring together. When I finally saw the perfect ring in a Bulgary ad (has any women ever seen a ring she doesn't love in a Bulgari ad?), we took the page to the cousin of a girlfriend who owned a small, non-descript jewelry store. The store front wasn't terribly impressive but the custom rings walking out the door certainly were! Love my engagement and wedding rings but had I to do it over again, I would have purchased a well-made CZ and put that money into Microsoft stock - it was under $3 a share back then! The rings and the reception are just window-dressing - if the relationship isn't right from the beginning, the ring isn't going to keep you together.
I really wish The Today Show would ban the morning hosts from drinking alcohol. This is such a horrible message to be presenting especially for a morning show. It glorifies a disease that ruins lives and families. Alcohol should go the same direction as did smoking when it comes to television.
If Hoda and Kathie Lee cannot get through a morning hour without alcohol they should be directed to get some help and replaced with someone who can anchor a show without it.
I really wish The Today Show would stop allowing their hosts to drink alcohol while on air. Alcohol and alcoholism destroys lives and families and is not an acceptable morning ritual. Television has long shown alcohol as a means to a good time when everyone really knows that it is an addictive depressant that enhances violence, hatred and stupidity. Have we not watched enough disasters occur that are fueled with alcohol such as Jersey Shore, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, just to name a few.
If Hoda and Kathie Lee cannot perform their one hour show without alcohol, MSNBC should replace them with someone who can. Bad behavior shouldn't be advertised or glorified, it should be pitied and corrected.
Hoda has to drink, how else could she sit next to that vapid idiot. Hoda probably has no recollection of even doing the show each day. Who does KathiLee know? How does this boring self-involved moron have a job?
It was a surprise and perfect! He proposed while on a commercial flight from Atlanta to San Francisco December 22, 2010. I had dozed off and heard the flight attendant making an announcement that they had an Army veteran on board. She proceeded to talk about his tours of combat in the Persian Gulf, Somalia and Panama and that he had served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. She then introduced Randy and said he wanted to say anew words. I look to the front of the plane (24 rows ahead) and there's Randy!! He asks me to stand up or raise my hand, then tells me how much he loves me and asks if I'll marry him. The whole plane erupted into cheers and he couldn't hear my answer! He was 'high-fived' back up the aisle and was saying"I didn't hear her answer!'. He then got back to our row, bent all 6'4" on one knee and proposed again. Of course I said 'yes'! We became engaged somewhere over Arkansas and were married September 2011!
I think that Hoda and Kathie Lee are two old ladies living in alcohol land. The Brad Pitt Chanel commercial is wonderful! It takes you into the dream and you can actually smell chanel #5 as he speaks. It is fantasy, dream and romance. Thise two hags need to stop drinking alcohol because they are loosing it!
I don't watch their show, I was channel surfing and I saw Brad Pitt and that is how I landed there. Never saw the interest in two middle age women promoting drunkeness.
I love the Brad Pitt commercial. I think it speaks to dreams, fantasy and romance. These two old hags prefer to languish in drunken alcohol stupor. Kathie Lee and Hoda are so tainted that I hate this show. I don't watch it. I was channel surfing and stopped to see the Brad Pitt commercial or else I would have kept clicking away.
Two tainted old hags is not my idea of fun TV. We have enough tainted, debbie downers in the world.....
All I wanted was a simple round solitaire......what the poor guy didn't know was the reason: you can ALWAYS add-on to simple solitaire!! Our 5th anniversary, he had my mother's diamond put on on one side of the solitaire and a matched diamond for the other side. Very sentimental since my Mom had long since passed away and I found out I was expecting our twin girls the week he gave it to me!
I married my high school sweetheart after being apart for 35 years. He gave me the original engagement ring that we purchased back when we were making $2 an hour and going to the jewelers every week to make payments. He had saved it all these years - it was perfect and I wouldn't have wanted anything different. It has so much meaning to it.

anniemagnolia-We are not all as tightly wrapped as you are. Chill!

I also love the Brad Pitt commercial! Its very Brad, very sexy and very cinematic.
As Kathi Lee would say: "You go boy!"

My ring came with the perfect accessory -- a husband who treats me wonderfully -- we're still deeply in love after nearly twenty years.
Those who are commenting on the alcohol, etc. should find some other way to vent your spleen. Those replies have nothing to do with the question.
anniemagnolia-Fortunately, we are not all as tightly wrapped as you are. Chill!!
It is small and only cost around US 700, but it was more than my husband could afford. I loved it.
interesting....
most important is the intent.
as long as it makes the lady happy...
i guess every woman will love her engagement ring.
Anything for my girl!
