regarding this issue, i was a office manager for 20 years, and i worked with 19 men and i helped build the company to where we needed 3 service men instead of one, it all depends on the woman and the situation the job brings.. Also i wanted to add i watched show today, Kathie Lee mentioned Canadian Geese well they have decided to really migrate here in Orange Park fl, my daughter in law went to pick up grandson at school, there were about 20 of them 2 were fighting and hit her window and broke her mirror, on driver side, (she is 7 months pregnant) all i can say is good thing her window was closed, it could of caused her to go in labor or a accident, needless to say it scared her and pooped all over suv..just thought i would throw that in so Katelyn Fumer vs. Canadian Geese she won, just had to wash truck and get a new mirror. lol
Women tend to downplay because they are already labeled as the homemaker. Personally, I am not a homemaker - I work and contribute to the home just as much. I have been in the same position at work for 11 years and have yet to be recognized even after completing an MBA degree and sacrificing much of my own standards to do so. We seem to try, but the concept of women and women's rights are not on the forefront. Society has labeled women and the men's voice speak louder in my opinion. Stern and firm is not always the best answer when it comes to simply doing your job!
I have worked for Fortune 100 (actually top 10) corporations - and received huge bonuses, I have worked for small companies and helped build the business, I now am a partner in a business and take things in a more personal manner. I have always been in sales & management etc. positions -I can do anything well or competent in hiring the best person - and find that people in general are more receptive to a friendly woman vs a pushy, single minded arrogant man. Not that all men fit that category, same as not all women fit a stereotype. I will say one thing - Yahoo no longer allowing work at home employees is a big mistake. I have worked from home many years and have found that I am more productive working at home vs an office. Maybe working at home gives women an advantage and more 'oomph'/courage/self esteem/sense of dedication/sense of control etc...I don't speak for all women, no one can. Every woman is different just as every man is different, we all have individual personalities so it 'irks' me when people try to stereotype. Just my two cents in as short of a comment I can.

I think women would downplay their strengths simply because men get too intimidated by confident and strong women.
